Special Operations Unit

The Sandy Springs Police is the second largest city in the five-county metro area. As such, specialized units were formed to address changing trends in narcotics activity as well as gang affiliations within the city. Specialized units are under the Operations Division commanded by Deputy Chief Ken DeSimone. Programs such as Safe Streets (gang unit) and Innocent Images (sex offenders) partner with the FBI as well as other local jurisdictions to increase investigative effectiveness.
