Welcome to the Sandy Springs Police Department South District. The South District is everything south of Johnson Ferry Road, from the Chattahoochee River to Hammond Drive. Hammond Drive to the Dunwoody City Limits and that area lying north of the Atlanta City Limits. The South District is commanded by Captain Scott Jamison. Captain Jamison joined the Sandy Springs Police in 2006 following an eighteen-year career with Fulton County Police.

Officer Tim Burell began his law enforcement career in 1987 with the City of Doraville Police Department where he served until 1992 when he joined the Metropolitan Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Police Department. He served with the MARTA Police during the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta. Officer Burell joined the Sandy Springs Police Department in 2008. He worked in the patrol division until his appointment as one of the two south community coordinators.
In his 24-year career, Tim has held the positions of detective, and sergeant. He is certified in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). CPTED is based on the premise that "The proper design and effective use of the built environment can lead to a reduction in the fear of crime and incidence of crime, and to an improvement in quality of life."
Officer Burell has been involved in helping kids at the Ronald McDonald House and Scottish Rite Hospital. "I like giving back to our community by showing them that we do care about the community we live and work in." On his off time, he enjoys playing golf, jet skiing, and cooking for family and friends. Senior Officer Luis Figueroa, a native of Bayamón Puerto Rico, began his Law Enforcement career in 2005 with the Atlanta Georgia Police Department. While employed with the Atlanta Police Department Officer Figueroa served in the Uniform Patrol Division, Field Training Officer program and Field Investigation Team. Officer Figueroa joined the Sandy Springs Police Department in January 2010. He currently works in the South District Uniformed Patrol Division. Email Officer Luis Figueora

Sergeant Scott Laughman joined the Sandy Springs Police following service with the Cobb County, Georgia Sheriff's Department. Prior to his promotion to sergeant he was assigned to the uniform division. Sergeant Laughman is a member of the North Metro S.W.A.T. Team, comprised of members of the Sandy Springs, Johns Creek, and Dunwoody Police Departments.
