North Metro SWAT
Sandy Springs Police, along with Johns Creek and Dunwoody Police formed the North Metro SWAT Team in 2010. The combined strength of the team, over 30 members, consists of 20 officers from Sandy Springs and 8 officers from both Johns Creek and Dunwoody. Sgt. Rob Stevens is the commander of the North Metro SWAT Team.

North Metro SWAT recently conducted testing for positions on the team for SWAT Medic. Testing consisted of several endurance tests including running, push ups, carrying (simulated) injured officers,carrying weighted objects for a distance and within a certain time. The candidates worked in teams to accomplish the course.

Eight members of the Sandy Springs Fire Department and & seven from the Johns Creek Fire Department paramedics graduated from the Tactical Medic Course hosted by the Medical College of Georgia’s S.T.O.R.M. Program. These fifteen TacMedics now make up the TEMS component of the North Metro SWAT Team. Training was held in late February at an vacant business complex in Dunwoody.
