H.E.A.T. Grant Renewal

Grant Extends Through 2012

The Governor's Office of Highway Safety has awarded Sandy Springs Police with a renewal of the H.E.A.T. grant for 2012, totaling $95,400. The grant covers October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012. H.E.A.T. ( Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic) allows for the 100% reimbursement of approved federal funds within the grant specifications. Sandy Springs Police have utilized the grant since the department's inception in 2006.Sandy Springs Police operate three patrol cars, laser and other in-car equipment. The unit participates in multi-jurisdictional enforcement projects and provides media and educational information to the public.

Sergeant Dan Nable is the SSPD Traffic Unit and H.E.A.T. Unit Commander.
