The Accreditation & Certification Unit manages the written directive system for the Department. The unit is charged with maintaining compliance with the standards set by the Georgia State Certification Program and the Commission on the Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies.

Sandy Springs Police successfully underwent recertification in November 2011. The department is moving towards national accreditation. The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) mock inspection is set for February, 2012 and the on-site inspection is scheduled for April, 2012.
