Crime Scene Unit

The Sandy Springs Crime Scene Unit is responsible for the survey, diagramming, and documentation for all crime scenes in the city. The Crime Scene Unit, which consists of two full-time and two part-time investigators, will be responsible collection and transport of this evidence. All evidence is evaluated and processed for possible latent prints and DNA value. If any latent print evidence is found, it is photographed and processed for entry into the IAFIS, Integrated Automated Fingerprint System. Detectives in crime scene are skilled in taking video of a scene and advanced photography techniques. All crime scene investigators have obtained their state issued identification technician certification.

 The Crime Scene Investigations unit is part of the Criminal Investigations Unit and is comprised of two full time and two part time Forensic Investigators. C.S.I. processes crime scenes for evidence and also processes evidence collected by patrol officers.
