Firearms Safety Classes

Firearms Safety Classes

Many people own weapons that sit packed away for years without use. Many times it is because the owner is afraid of the weapon and thus chooses to let it sit idle. The Sandy Springs Police Department Community Affairs Unit offers gun safety classes taught at the Sandy Springs Gun Club and Range. The partnership allows students to use modern classroom facilities and live-fire ranges to shoot either their own or rented weapons.

The three-hour course will focus on familiarization of the weapon, how to properly maintain and clean it, as well as proper shooting techniques. All classes are taught by SSPD firearms instructors. For more information on the course contact Officer Larry Jacobs; Email Larry Jacobs

Several Sandy Springs Police Officers carry their own trading cards which are in demand at school, church, and other functions involving the officers and community. The cards are paid for by sponsors whose name and logos can be printed on the card. Several civic organizations are involved in the program. The cards are made of a high-gloss material and area professionally produced by the same company that produces professional baseball and hockey cards.
If you are interested in you, your company, or organization sponsoring an officer for the "Cop Card" program, Email Capt. Steve Rose.
