Chief Terry Sult took over as Sandy Springs Police Chief on October 27, 2008 after serving as the Gastonia, North Carolina Police Chief. Chief Sult spent more than 30 years of his career with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Chief Sult believes that the Sandy Springs approach to local government is consistent with the philosophy of management preferable in effective policing. "The focus of the police department must be preventing crime., solving problems, and enforcing laws. 

A career law enforcement officer, Chief Sult has a long history of collaboration and building relationships. He has worked closely with both business and divers communities. Among his accomplishments is the creation of the Sandy Springs Police Benevolent Fund in 2010. The Fund was created to support officers and families in times of crisis and need. Email Chief Terry Sult
