Deputy Chief DeSimone also serves in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve where he holds the rank of Colonel. He enlisted in 1982 and has served in both the armor and military police fields. He is a Iraq and Afghanistan War Veteran. In 2005 he was the senior military advisor for the Iraqi Border Police in the Anbar and Najaf Provinces. In 2011 he was the Officer in Charge of the Second Marine Division Provincial Police Advisor Team and advisor to the Helmand Province Afghanistan Chief of Police. He has worked on the tactical and operational level with police and military forces in North America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. He is currently assigned to the II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, NC.
He has a B.S. degree in Police Administration from the University of Louisville, is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (GA-LEEDS). He was the recipient of the FBI Director’s Award in 2003 for Outstanding Counterterrorism Investigation and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Medal of Valor in 1999. He is a graduate of the USMC Command and Staff College and numerous other police and military courses. He is a life member of the American Legion at Buckhead Post 140 Chastain Park, and is the current Sergeant at Arms for the Post. Email Deputy Chief Ken DeSimone
