Q: How do you choose the vehicles the Department Uses?

A: We base our decision on current technology and safety trends as well as what purpose the vehicle will serve. For instance, a patrol vehicle is equipped with more radio, computer, and safety equipment than an administrative or detective vehicle because of it's front-line duties.

 

Q: How long do you keep the vehicles in service?

A: Currently we are replacing vehicles that have reached a certain mileage point. Typically the units will be replaced prior to reaching one-hundred thousand miles.

 

Q:What do you do with vehicles the department no longer needs.
